The Ethics of Buying or Selling a Law Practice

Topic:

The Ethics of Buying or Selling a Law Practice

The buying and selling of law practices has become a popular alternative to the traditional partnership model. While purchasing lawyers and sellers have some latitude in reaching a sale agreement, both buyers and sellers face certain ethical constraints and obligations at all stages of the sales process. This 1-hour seminar will discuss the ethical imperatives of Ohio Rule of Professional Conduct 1.17 as applied to law practice buyers and sellers during pre-sale, listing, negotiations, finalization, and post-sale.
