2020 Health Care Institute & Medical/Legal Summit

The 2020 Medical Legal Summit will be held April 24 – 25, at the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association (CMBA) Conference Center. The two-day event is hosted by the Academy of Medicine of Cleveland & Northern Ohio (AMCNO), Academy of Medicine Education Foundation, and CMBA.

Friday, April 24 (Health Care Law Update)
This session for attorneys (and optional for physicians) takes place from 12:30 – 4 pm. The following topics will be covered during the Update: Medical Legal Partnerships and Holistic Care – Legal Aid Society of Cleveland; Health Law Considerations Regarding Medspas; and Pharmacy Benefit Managers 101: The Role of PBMs in the Prescription Drug Supply Chain and Interactions with Employers, Providers and Patients.

Friday, April 24 (Summit)
This year, attendees have the opportunity to hear an engaging keynote presentation by Kathleen Blake, MD, who will discuss artificial intelligence (AI) and the challenges associated with it. Dr. Blake is the American Medical Association (AMA) Vice President for Healthcare Quality.

Four key questions will be covered during her session: Does AI work? Who will pay for it? Who’s liable if it does not work? How should/will I integrate AI into my practice?

A networking reception follows the keynote presentation, and all attendees are welcome to attend.
