About the Family Law Section
The Family Law Section provides resources, education and social opportunities to family law practitioners. The Section works with the Domestic Relations Court judges and staff to keep members up-to-date on Court rules and activities.
The Section maintains a work area in the Domestic Relations Court. With the move of the Information Center from Room 306 on the third floor to Room 187A on the first floor, the CMBA work area has been moved. There is a dedicated desk area located in Room 187A with the CMBA computer, near the West elevator.
Section members provide articles for the July/August issue of the CMBA Bar Journal.
We sponsor informative, innovative CLE programs and luncheon meetings on relevant topics. The Section regularly collaborates with other family law advocacy organizations and the Domestic Relations Court on CLE programs.
Our full-day program is held in the spring CLE season.
Monthly lunch meetings, with one hour CLE, are held on the third Thursday of the month, September through June. We host at least one of our monthly meetings at the Domestic Relations Court in the Old Courthouse. Join us!
Our annual holiday happy hour is held each December. We invite all members and Domestic Relations Court staff to celebrate the holiday season with us.
Pro Bono & Community Service
We partner with The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland for monthly Pro Se Divorce Clinics and bi-monthly Pro Se Plus. Volunteers are needed for each two-hour session to provide an overview of the process in Cuyahoga County and assist clients with paperwork.
Contact Jessica Paine at the CMBA for more details. Your support is appreciated!
