Green Initiative Committee

The Green Initiative Committee (GIC) promotes efficient energy use and other environmentally responsible practices in the legal profession.

The committee's work positively impacts the environment, helps law offices reduce costs, adds value to client service, and has positioned the CMBA as a "green leader" among bar associations. We also invite you to check out the recent articles published in the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Journal are available in the "articles and more" tab as well.

Since it began in 2008, the GIC has worked on a comprehensive CMBA Green Initiative, the center stone of which is a Green Certification Program. The Green Certification program now includes two certification levels. Applying for the
two-year certification recognition is simple. See the "certification" tab for more information. The GIC also developed a
Carbon Footprint Calculator for Legal Services Organizations. Download your free copy today!

For more information on the Green Initiative, please contact Krista Munger at (216) 696-3525 ext. 2224.

The committee meets as needed.

Thank you to all who participated in the
10th Annual Greener Way to Work Day Luncheon

Greener Way to Work Week

The Green Initiative Committee (GIC) hosted their 2018 Greener Way to Work Week September 17 - September 21. The week encourages everyone to find greener ways to commute to work one or more days that week. The GIC caps off the week with its David Webster Greener Way to Work Luncheon on Friday, September 21 at the CMBA. The luncheon welcomed keynote speaker Colby Sattler, Urban Forestry and Natural Resources Manager for the Western Reserve Land Conservancy.

Join the conversation and share your photos on social media (#GreenCMBA and tag @CleMetroBar).

We always encourage everyone to embrace daily themes all week long and be a part of the Committee’s mission to promote efficient energy use and other environmentally responsible practices in the legal profession.

Motivation Monday

You learn more from watching others! Share a video, post a blog, or tweet about what motivates you to be environmentally conscious.  Whether it is internal motivation, client satisfaction or money saved, share what you do to inspire others.

Tuesday Tips

Provide and share your Green tips, “how to” ideas, and resources. Be it pictures, info, links or more, spread the word on being “green.”

Work It Wednesday

Have everyone else be green with envy and wear green and post a picture with #GreenCMBA to help raise awareness of and share your successes in sustainability.

Throwback Thursday

Leverage this popular #tbt approach and show your “before and after” approach for sustainability. Have fun, be clever, and enjoy how far we’ve come in Cleveland.
