  • Cleveland Homeless Legal Assistance Program
The Committee to Aid the Homeless of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association and the Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless partner to provide this comprehensive program to meet the legal needs of the homeless population in Greater Cleveland. Our volunteer lawyers and law students work with the program's staff lawyer in area shelters and community centers to provide brief advice, counseling, information and extended legal representation, if needed, to individuals who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. We assist people to regain driving privileges, resolve credit problems, expunge criminal records, settle landlord-tenant disputes, avoid parole violations and receive social security and other public benefits. We currently visit a variety of sites, including the May Dugan Center, Westside Catholic Center, St. Patrick's Church, Women's Shelter, Salvation Army Men's Shelter, Volunteers of America, Y-Haven East and West. • Volunteer Lawyers Program and Legal Clinics
We have long partnered with The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland to provide pro bono legal assistance to indigent individuals and elderly clients in many areas of law including family law, landlord-tenant, employment, debtor-creditor, tax, probate, social security and public benefits, real estate and tort defense. Our current partnership programs include three types of legal clinics: Law Firm Evening Clinics which will match up individual clients needing extended representation with law firm volunteers, Brief Advice and Referral Clinics serving walk-in clients on Saturday mornings in neighborhood locations and Substantive Legal Clinics providing law-related information on selected topics at sites throughout the community. Through this collaborative, we are able to serve many low-income individuals in need of legal service and information about the law.
