Stephanie Tubbs Jones Summer Legal Academy
Thinking about a career in the law?
If so, we have a great program for you! The Summer Legal Academy, named in honor of the late Stephanie Tubbs Jones, a Cleveland lawyer and judge of note and a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, is designed to introduce promising minority students to the legal profession. Area high school seniors will participate in a three week intensive and very interactive law institute. The faculty of area judges, lawyers and law professors will introduce the participants to numerous legal issues and career opportunities.
What to Expect
Students will learn about the criminal and civil legal systems, meet and learn from prominent judges, lawyers and law professors. The Legal Academy is a three week part time interactive session in June. Participants will also have the opportunity to earn a one month internship and stipend in July.
Who Can Participate?
The program is offered to minority high school students from northeast Ohio who are rising seniors (will be entering 12th grade). This is a tuition-free program, sponsored by program partners including the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association and Foundation, Case Western Reserve University School of Law, Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and the Norman S. Minor Bar Association.
