Pro Se Divorce Clinics
Pro Se and Pro Se "Plus" Divorce Clinics
Sponsored by The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland, the Cleveland Law Library, and the CMBA's Family Law Section, Pro Se Divorce Clinics serve indigent individuals who are seeking a simple divorce and who have no minor children or assets, through the help of volunteers who guide attendees through the process and paperwork, provide brief advice, and at times provide further representation. Pro Se "Plus" guides participants through a simple divorce where there are minor children from the marriage but where support and custody are not in dispute.
When in-person gatherings are safe again, the Pro Se Divorce program will return to monthly clinics held at the Cleveland Law Library in the Cuyahoga County Courthouse, so participants may attend a clinic and file in the same day. In the meantime, assistance is provided virtually through volunteers with The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland. Volunteer attorneys are needed to advise clients and take on extended representation, particularly for Say Yes families.
