July 1 marks the start of a brand new Bar Year, and while we love new beginnings we would be remiss not to take a moment to appreciate those who have contributed so much to our achievements in the last year!
THANK YOU to our outgoing committee chairs: Jennifer Himmelein (Justice For All), Will Eadie (3Rs Oversight), and Katie Steiner (Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts). Each of you saw us through one of the most challenging years yet, as programming made the massive switch to virtual but continued services.
Under Jennifer's leadership, the JFA Committee continued its support and oversight of all of the Bar's pro bono & community programs, ensuring they had the resources and volunteers needed. She also personally coordinated and served virtual Pro Se Divorce clients with CMBA partner The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland. During Will's second year as Chair, The 3Rs drafted lessons tailored to the online world and engaged hundreds of volunteers and students; while we couldn't teach them about Rights, Responsibilities, and Realities in person, The 3Rs carried on its mission of connecting with local students about the rule of law and career paths after high school. Katie was a tireless advocate and volunteer with the VLA, taking on multiple cases pro bono and spearheading public education & CLE series. Jennifer, Will, and Katie, we could not have done it without you!
WELCOME to our incoming committee chairs: Sarah Nemastil (JFA), Lori Eiler (3Rs), and Tom Horwitz (VLA). Sarah, Lori, and Tom have been active, valued members of each of their respective groups, and we look forward to seeing the programs expand and succeed in the coming year.
Thank you to all for your support and leadership, from Jessica Paine & all of the CMBA staff!
