Cleveland.com cites lack of transparency, money in Justice Center Plan - CMBA News and Information

CMBA Updates & Legal News

Posted by: Brennan Donnellan on Mar 28, 2021

On Sunday, 3/28, Cleveland.com posted an opinion piece from the Editorial Board regarding a recent vote by the Justice Center Steering Committee. The Board wrote:

...the committee members, including County Executive Armond Budish, County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley and Common Pleas Administrative and Presiding Judge Brendan Sheehan, voted unanimously for the proposal. With no discussion. Not even a single question.

What does that lack of discussion suggest? It doesn’t take a very suspicious mind to imagine that committee members talked privately about the proposal, though Appelbaum said he did not brief them, and then cast their votes without feeling a need to explain themselves to the public.

So much for transparency.
