The Asian American Bar Association of Ohio issued a statement on March 5th denouncing Lake County Judge John O'Donnell's use of the phrase "China Virus" in the January 2021 issue of Lake Legal Views, a legal community newsletter.
In his column, Judge O'Donnell wrote:
"With the advent of the China Virus being thrust upon us in January 2020, courts across the country have struggled with the management of dockets."

"The Asian American Bar Association of Ohio denounces Judge O'Donnell's adoption of the term 'China Virus' and the discriminatory and xenophobic connotation associated with it."
