2016 Justice For All Volunteer of the Year
Each year JFA honors volunteers who have provided exemplary service to the Cleveland community in pro bono and public service programs during the previous Bar Year. The Award is a way to recognize those who give their time and expertise in meaningful and significant ways throughout the year. The 2016 Volunteer of the Year Award will be presented at the CMBA Annual Meeting on June 3.
2015 Justice For All Volunteer of the Year Award Recipient: Judge Dan Aaron Polster, U.S. District Court, Northern District of Ohio
Judge Dan Polster received the 2015 Volunteer of the Year Award for his exemplary service and outreach to the youth in our community. He has been a dedicated volunteer and leader in The 3Rs program
, serving as a team captain and sponsoring field trips for students to the federal court.
In addition to The 3Rs, Judge Polster has contributed volunteer time to the Louis Stokes Scholars Program
. Each summer, he welcomes the Scholars to his courtroom to observe a court proceeding, followed by lengthy sessions in which he personally engages with them in discussions about the justice system and careers in the law. In the words of Stokes Scholars, “Judge Polster makes the law come to life by sharing his knowledge and experience with us in such a personal way."
