Small Firm & Solo Practitioner Section

The CMBA's Small & Solo Firm Section recognizes that running a practice/business of this size is... well, different. This section aims to better address this shared need with unique and customized programming regarding marketing, business cultivation and development, and technology; social events; social media; etc. To do so, we invite you to help serve on our newly forming steering committee to re-energize the section so it can better serve its members and grow as a community of small and solo practitioners. For more information on joining the steering committee, please contact Ashley Jones, steering committee chair, or Samantha Pringle, CMBA CLE & Sections Director.

The Section generally meets and holds a one-hour CLE on the 4th Wednesday of every month from September through December and every other month thereafter. The Section holds a one-day seminar in mid-May of every year and the Section has quarterly happy hours.

We’d love to have you attend our meetings and to join our Section. If you have any questions regarding the Section please call the Sections Department at the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association at (216) 696-3525.

CMBA Solo/Small Firm Networking Committee
Grow Your Knowledge Base Without Destroying Your Bottom Line

As a solo practitioner or small firm member, you have likely run into the problem of having a current client with questions about a legal issue outside your practice area. This problem does not exist in larger firms: in a big firm you walk down the hall and run the legal issue by your colleague who practices in that area. Solo practitioners and small firms don’t have this luxury. Even our established section members do not always know an attorney they can call to quickly get the answers they need.

We have a solution – become part of our Networking Committee. It’s simple. YOU share your knowledge in your main practice areas and the other Section members share THEIR knowledge in their main practice areas.

You have a bankruptcy question: call any of the bankruptcy practitioner listed on the networking list. You have an employment law question call one of the employment law attorneys on the list.  In return, all the Section asks is that you fill out your own networking form and be willing to take questions from other Sections members in your practice areas.

If you have any questions or if you have a completed  networking form , please contact and/or send the forms to Brian T. McElroy.
