“Rock the Foundation” Hits House of Blues on March 20
Fifth Annual Fundraiser Changes Venue and Changes Lives
CLEVELAND – March 1, 2010 – On Saturday, March 20, The Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Foundation (CMBF) will host its fifth Rock the Foundation at the House of Blues in downtown Cleveland from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
"Sometimes you pay money to have a rocking great time; sometimes you pay money to support a game-changing great cause. With Rock V, you get both," said Rick Manoloff, president of the CMBF. "Proceeds from this fundraising event are spent primarily on the 3Rs program, where lawyers and other volunteers teach civics and interact with more than 4,000 students in Cleveland and East Cleveland high schools. The Foundation also provides financial support for other programs, including the homeless legal assistance program (counseling more than 600 people every year), the pro bono bankruptcy project (helping more than 50 individuals and families every year), and high school mock trial competitions (bringing the law home to more than 900 students each year)."
Open to the public, this is the CMBF’s biggest fundraising event. General admission tickets are $120. Tickets for VIP entry are $250 and include special 6 p.m. access for a pre-event reception with wine tasting, hors d’oeuvres and entertainment by Transportation Boulevard.
The Rock V event is a unique rock and roll fundraiser featuring a casual atmosphere, the music of Cleveland’s outstanding Stone Pony Band, dancing, food, open bar and a silent auction. Rock the Foundation provides the primary support for many pro bono and public service programs, including 3Rs.
This year’s silent auction features more than 50 fantastic items, including an exclusive House of Blues “Ultimate Show Package” featuring a catered party for 30; Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum Duet Rocker membership package; spa packages including a year’s worth of botox and other cosmetic enhancement treatments; weekend stays in exciting locales; gourmet dining certificates; roundtrip airfare tickets; a Bus Stop Kids guest spot on WKYC-Channel 3; theater seats; packages for all sports fans, including tickets to the Cavs, Indians, Browns, and Blue Jackets; paintings by local artist Hector Vega; and many more exciting items!
Last year's Rock the Foundation event raised $42,500. "As times get tougher and the needs get deeper and wider, our philanthropy must increase," said Manoloff. "By moving this rock and roll event to the House of Blues, we're taking the event to the next level and solidifying it as an annual Cleveland tradition. We're poised to take our community outreach to the next level, too, but need individuals and firms to support the effort. We can't think of a more fun way to garner that important support than Rock V."
