“Rock the Foundation 8” Goes Retro at House of Blues March 9th with ’80s Theme

CLEVELAND – Feb. 4, 2013 – The Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Foundation (CMBF) returns to the House of Blues Cleveland on Saturday, March 9 from 7 to 11 p.m. for its eighth annual Rock the Foundation rock ‘n’ roll party, presented by FirstMerit Wealth Management Services.

Open to the public, Rock the Foundation is the CMBF’s signature fundraising event for the many pro bono and community programs it supports. Fitting for the 1980s theme, The Spazmatics, an ‘80s cover band, will provide live music for the night filled with fantastic food, open bar, dancing, and a silent auction. General admission tickets are $125. Tickets for VIP entry are $250 and include special 6 p.m. access for a pre-event reception with hors d’oeuvres and an open bar.

“We are so excited about this year’s event and aim to make it a third consecutive year to break our fundraising record,” said CMBF President Lynn Lazzaro. “This event is always such a great time; and this year’s ‘80s theme gives us the chance to have even more fun through the music and dress. We anticipate the same outpouring of support by attendees and sponsors that is so critical to our mission; we just suspect they’ll show up with bigger hair, neon colors and perhaps a little more dweeb-like than we’re used to.”

Ticket sales, sponsorships and auction proceeds from Rock the Foundation have generated $876,331 in the first seven years for the many Bar Foundation-funded program and initiatives that serve the Cleveland metropolitan community and promote pro bono legal assistance and public law-related education, including The 3Rs (teaching and counseling more than 4,000 students in Cleveland and East Cleveland schools), the homeless legal assistance program (counseling more than 600 people every year), and high school mock trial competitions (bringing the law home to more than 900 students each year).
