Bar Foundation to Host 11th Halloween Run for Justice

CLEVELAND – October 19, 2012 – The Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Foundation (CMBF) will host its 11th Annual Halloween Run for Justice event on Saturday, October 27 at 9 a.m. Planned in partnership with Hermes Sports & Events Cleveland, the fundraising event will take place at the Galleria at Erieview. Participants may choose between 5-mile, 5K and 1-mile distances, plus enjoy other festive and kid-friendly activities happening throughout the morning.

Proceeds from event registrations and sponsorships will benefit the CMBF, which funds the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association’s pro bono and public service programs, including the 3Rs program (Rights ● Responsibilities ● Realities). This is an unprecedented, award-winning program that puts nearly 500 volunteers from the Cleveland legal community into 10th grade social studies classes in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District and East Cleveland City Schools to personally connect with the students, educate them about the U.S. Constitution and provide practical career counseling.

“Each year this event gets bigger and better. Now part of the road race series with Hermes, our reach is expanding beyond the legal community. This allows us to raise more funds which get put right back into our many law-related community and pro bono programs for the Greater Cleveland area,” said Lynn Lazzaro, president of the Bar Foundation and principal of Lazzaro Law Offices LLC. “This event is more than a race; it is a morning of costumes, competition, candy and family fun. It is fitting that this event closes out the Celebrate Pro Bono Week by raising money that allows us to continue our programs and work throughout our community.”

Both runners and walkers are welcome to participate in this event. Following the race, awards will be presented to the top male and female runners, top runners among various age groups, fastest judge, fastest lawyer, and team contest winners. All attendees are encouraged to wear costumes and the best child and adult costumes also will be awarded. Other activities inside the Galleria will include pumpkin decorating, a DJ, face painting, a bouncy house and the balloon creations of Flower Clown.
