UPL Committee

The Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee investigates confidential allegations that persons not admitted to the practice of law are in fact practicing law and files complaints against such persons with the Board of Commissioners on the Unauthorized Practice of Law of the Ohio Supreme Court seeking an injunction and potential fine for such conduct. The Committee meets monthly at the Association. Committee meetings are not open to the general membership of the Association.

Membership on the Committee is generally evaluated in the late spring of each year for the upcoming Association fiscal year beginning July 1, or when seats are available on the Committee during the year. To be appointed, applicants must submit an application, participate in an informal interview, and be approved by the Committee Chairperson and the Board of Trustees.
